LaTrice Martin-Gault, President of Save Your Properties (SYP), Inc. and Founder of The School of Financial Transformation.
Since 2004, Save Your Properties rescued hundreds of clients from foreclosure and helped them to rehabilitate their lives through the life-changing, services provided by SYP which originally included the Transformation Program, that has now become The School of Financial Transformation, non-profit.
With 14 years of experience in the banking industry Martin-Gault is a banker, a loan officer, a mortgage broker, a foreclosure expert, and her current and most valuable title-- TRANSFORMER. She is a former employee of Nations Bank as a Personal Mortgage Banker, which is now Bank of America. She also became a loan originator, and then received her broker’s license in 2000.
Inspired to start her own company as a result of a personal encounter with foreclosure on a home inherited from her grandmother, Martin-Gault soared. God, as he had done for many others throughout the Bible, gave her the exact outline for how she was to run her business, and serve the people in her community. She took the vision, followed the voice of God with a strong conviction ever since. She was the first client to go through both of the programs offered by her company SYP and SOFT, and through the Word she redeemed her land.
Martin-Gault understands the importance of educating homeowners and potential homeowners about being financially healthy. She says, “The Bible says, that my people perish for a lack of knowledge and that’s why they are in foreclosure now.” She took the responsibility to make education her full-time priority.
She is most known for her educational talk show on 97.5 FM “Cruisin’ Through the Home Buying Process” and for her bi-monthly educational dinner cruises for first time home buyers, which bore the same name. She moved from taking her clients away from the city for their education and is now going to their communities to deliver their education to them with the development of two key entities.
First, Martin-Gault saw the need for her programs in lower socioeconomic communities in which residents may not be able to afford all of the services offered by SYP. The desire to service all of God’s people, gave birth to The School of Financial Transformation (SOFT), a non-profit registered with the Texas Secretary of State in February 2009, and is awaiting final approval as a 501(C) 3 non-profit organization. SOFT was also invited to join the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a Certified HUD Counseling Agency.
Immediately after launching SOFT, Martin-Gault began the program at Houston Baptist University. In addition, with the helping hand of Attorney Ron Reynolds, 2008 candidate for State Representative District 27, and Sharon Phillips, former VP of Community Affairs of Washington Mutual, they are working to make SOFT official legislature along with President Barak Obama’s plan to assist homeowners nationwide.
Next, Martin-Gault began the monthly Break the Silence of Foreclosure Town Hall Meeting in January 2009 to yoke with the Body of Christ. It provides a solution and gives people a forum to speak out. The town hall meetings received support from leaders in the community such as Council members & Mayoral Candidate, Peter Brown, Jarvis Johnson and Wanda Adams. It was highlighted on Fox 26 News, UPN’s Black Voices, and TBN’s Joy In Our Town, and received Community Service Award recognition from Warriors for Christ Ministries.
She travels the state speaking at different events sharing her knowledge, experience, and testimonies in the foreclosure industry. A guest of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, Lyndon LaRouche, and Deavra Daughtery at their foreclosure centered meetings gave Martin-Gault a statewide platform to begin educating Texas residents. Author of “Does Anybody Want 2 B Transformed”, which is the text book that she uses to change lives during her Transformation Class offered through SYP and SOFT, which is currently looking for a publisher to put her book in the hands of every homeowner and potential homeowner on the nation.
SYP is receiving local to state to nation wide exposure through featured editorials in D-Mars Business Newspaper, Woman to Woman Magazine, Professional Black Women’s Empowerment Magazine, and Everybody In Texas Newspaper as their featured foreclosure expert. Martin-Gault was a guest on internet radio show Old Grumpy Radio, a two hour segment hosted by Ronnie Bassett, which generated over 100 emails from people across the nation. She was also a guest on Wisdom in Action with Troy Mason, a late night internet TV talk show. Mr. Mason created a department exclusively for Martin-Gault, and claims her as the foreclosure expert.
SYP/ SOFT are bi-fold programs serving both the lender and the client. In contacting lenders, her company assures them that if they trust SYP/ SOFT with their un-qualified borrowers, SYP/ SOFT will return to them financially healthy clients within one year if they first modify the client’s loan. SYP and SOFT provide their clients with all the tools they need when speaking with their lender in requesting assistance for their overdue loans. Their offerings include: information, education, preparation and most of all Transformation. Despite all of the public coverage, the most important feat for SYP is that they miraculously recovered 436 homeowners last year, 2008.
The most monumental feat for SYP occurred in May 2009. In March of 2009, a client came to Martin-Gault whose home was foreclosed on by Bank of America, formerly known as Countrywide. This client had lost her home and had no immediate income because she had been laid off earlier in the year causing her to fall behind in her house note. It was a FHA loan, which in the State of Texas means, that is it non-redemptive. According to the state standards, there was no way this woman was going to get her home back. The client told Martin-Gault that God showed her she was to have her home back, and Martin-Gault was going to be the one the guide her through the darkest hours of her life. Martin-Gault wrote a letter to the President of Bank of America, who swore to her there was nothing that could be done. The decision was irreversible in the State of Texas. For 3 months, Martin-Gault stayed persistent. Then the miracle happened. For the first time in Texas history with the largest lender in Texas, the investor rescinded and GAVE THE OWNER BACK HER PROPERTY AFTER FORECLOSURE. SHE WAS TRANSFORMED! As a result, Martin-Gault is being featured on the web-site of new TNT premier show Hawthorne, http://www.tnt.tv/series/hawthorne/heroes.jsp?id=33, as a Hawthorn Hero. Martin-Gault welcomes the opportunity to share this testimony with the world, but maybe with Larry King on CNN first.
Martin-Gault says that her dream is to share her solution to the current foreclosure famine with the country and then the world. She is making fast haste with the development of the first Foreclosure Reality Show that will provide a national platform for homeowners who have faught the foreclosure battle and won! Martin-Gault is in the beginning stages of planning the first National Foreclosure Day, making its debut the 3rd Saturday in March 2010.
She is a Houston native, and attended the University of Houston, where she studied marketing. She is married to Livie Gault III, and has one child, Kaylin.
